Khaki - not just for the military

Monday, March 30, 2020

In times gone by khaki was developed as the ideal colour for military uniforms but in more recent years the fashion industry has experimented with it, using it to create many stunning contemporary outfits.

This year the industry has really bought into its appeal and designated it as the stand out summer colour with many of our favourite fashion houses using it as a base for their collections.

However, while khaki is one of the most popular colours on the catwalk this year is isn't always the easiest colour to wear; get it wrong and it can look as though you are wearing army fatigues, get it right and you can create the most fabulous outfits.

The best way to style khaki is with vibrant colours. Here we have teamed it on our rails with striped and floral print T-shirts from Rabe and cerise Lucia tops with self pattern interest. The paisley Rabe cerise and pink T-shirts and kaftan tops are also great highlighters with khaki.

Lime green and orange also work well, as does white. Jo is wearing a fabulous orange V neck sweater over a tropical printed jersey shirt, both by Golléhaug, worn with dark khaki Pamina trousers by Brax. In the other shot Jo has teamed a fabulous white and khaki Golléhaug sweater with Toni summer jeans. This sweater would also look great with white trousers.

Finally we have Colleen wearing a cerise cardigan and printed T-shirt by Lucia with the Toni summer cotton jean skirt in a soft khaki colour.

So if you're looking for a change from navy as a base colour this summer, take a look at our on-trend khaki collections. We know you'll love them when you see them.
