This French designer showcases a collection reflecting on the famous Breton seaman's sweater. Made from pure wool and cotton its designs are based on the cult item, much loved by fashion connoisseurs around the world.
The SAINT JAMES Company has been established in Lower Normandy, in the commune of Saint-James, close to Mont Saint-Michel, since 1889. Its' fame is based on a cult item of clothing "the genuine pure new knitted woollen Breton seaman's sweater". The sweater was originally intended for deep sea fishermen but was then adopted by famous seafarers and amateur yachtsmen.
Today the range has grown from the traditional blue jersey to include clothing of many colours. Stipes still predominate the collection but Saint James also offer colour block and plain designs to complement the original sweater's pure wool and pure cotton 'seashore' lines.
