  Victoria Lane Shop

Well, that didn't quite go according to plan, did it? We were just about to tell you how those of our customers living in Tier 4 areas could still see and buy from Victoria Lane, despite not being able to visit the shop and now we will be extending those plans to cover everyone, wherever they live.

Welcome back to lockdown and the personal shopping experience you received from Victoria Lane during the previous two closures.

The good news is that, although the shop is closed again, you won't miss out on seeing and buying any of our stock: our classic collection including a good choice of the warm trousers that we're going to need for at least a couple of months yet; our sale stock including bargains from our autumn and winter 2020 collections; and the lovely new stories just arriving in the shop from fashion houses such as Rabe (see below for details of the first two deliveries).

Vicki will still be in the shop to guide you around the restocked rails. Her phenomenal knowledge of the fashion houses, their new collections and your own Victoria Lane wardrobes means she will know exactly which sweaters, jackets and T-shirts will work for you.

Just make sure you have our phone number programmed into your phone: 01423 709 267. You can call us during normal opening hours and Vicki or a member of the team will be there to answer your questions. While we don't offer ecommerce sales through our website we will organise Zoom or Facetime calls so that we can show you our stock, which we think gives a much more personal experience. Purchases can be hand delivered to addresses in Harrogate or mailed out for a small additional fee.

We will also be showcasing our latest arrivals on our Twitter and Instagram accounts so make sure you are following us to keep up to date. As we are sure you already know, new collections sell out very quickly at Victoria Lane.

As we said last year: the shop may be closed but Victoria Lane is definitely open for business.

All change for our wardrobes

For most of us 2020 will live on in our memories as the year that changed the way we lived our lives. What we might not have expected is the extent to which it has also changed our wardrobes!

What has happened to our fashion sense and why?

What's happening in the shop?

Not as much as we might have hoped, to be honest. By now we should be receiving regular deliveries of spring stock but in reality they have only just started to dribble in. While the main culprit is Covid, which has affected our suppliers' abilities to manufacture and ship new lines, Brexit has also played a part and the two coming together has created a double whammy for the European fashion industry.

Hopefully during 2021 Brexit worries will sort themselves out, manufacturing will resume and goods of all kinds, including clothing, will reach retail outlets smoothly and in good time. In the meantime the new vaccines look set to counter the effects of Covid although it will take some time to vaccinate the entire population of the UK. Together these new developments are a positive sign of better things to come.

Thinking of fashion, as we do every day, it's probably no surprise that Rabe have won the Spring fashion race with two new stories. The first is a beautifully styled collection in a lovely new shade of green mixed with navy and using cobalt yellow as highlights. There are T-shirts, lightweight sweaters and smart coordinating jackets which together promise a brighter future for our wardrobes.

The black and cream story from the autumn / winter collections continues, this time mixed with coral and grey to give brilliant colour for the spring. Again there are lightweight sweaters, T-shirts and jackets to create combinations to suit any occasion.

Well, here we go again! Just as we were planning to invite everyone to come in and see our new Spring stock, we are once again plunged into lockdown and the shop is now closed. With no firm indication of when we might be able to open our doors again we cannot hold our usual early Spring fashion shows this month.

But that doesn't stop us planning ahead.

So when Government regulations permit, hopefully towards the end of February, we plan to hold a few social bubbles in the shop where, alongside a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits, we'll show off the latest collections, similar to the events we held in November and December. Our guests will also have the added bonus of a personal shopper to help with finding the perfect outfit for any occasion or just a few items to liven up last year's wardrobe.

Expect some short notice dates as we can't guarantee when Government restrictions will be lifted but if you would like to join us for one of the social bubbles, call us in the shop on 01423 709 267 now and put your name on the waiting list.

By March we should have more certainty around Government regulations and will hopefully be in a position to hold bubble shows using the same format as those in September and October. Our in-house model will join us to add the personal touch with up to eight people in bubbles of two or more and we'll obviously be using Covid secure procedures to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Again, call the shop on 01423 709 267 to reserve a place and we'll confirm the dates as soon as we know them.

In the meantime keep watching our website, Twitter and Instagram accounts for details of how you can still buy the latest collections by your favourite fashion houses at Victoria Lane. The shop may be closed but Victoria Lane is definitely open for business!
